Bringing much-needed holiday cheer to the community, the Calexico Women’s Improvement Club (WIC) and Mujeres with Voice invite everyone to participate in a festive “Holiday Light Caravan” on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 5:00 PM. This dazzling event aims to unite the city in celebration while spreading joy to families, especially children.

The organizers of the Light Caravan encourage individuals and community groups to decorate their vehicles with lights and festive displays. Participants will parade through Calexico, allowing residents to enjoy the spectacle from the comfort of their homes or local parks.

Together, the community can create a shared holiday experience that fosters unity, pride, and joy. Route details will be announced soon. For more information, contact the Women’s Improvement Club or Mujeres with Voice through their social media pages.

To join the “Holiday Light Caravan,” interested participants can sign up by messaging event organizers with their full name, contact information, and whether they are joining as an individual or part of a group. Participants should meet at the old Forever 21 parking lot next to Food4Less at 5:00 PM to finalize vehicle decorations and receive instructions. Suggested items to bring include lights, inflatables, zip ties, car power inverters, and Christmas music to create a festive atmosphere. The caravan will begin at 5:30 PM and last approximately 1.5 hours, with all drivers required to follow traffic laws and ensure vehicles are operated by licensed individuals.

After the caravan, a Holiday Festival will be held at the Women’s Improvement Club (320 Heber Ave.), featuring food and photos with Santa Claus available for a small donation, with proceeds benefiting the Women’s Improvement Club. Organizers stress the importance of safety and community spirit, prohibiting the promotion of social issues or the throwing of candy or toys from vehicles to ensure a fun and secure event for all.

The traditional Christmas Parade in Calexico has been canceled this year due to budget constraints. Despite this setback, this caravan will bring families together and spread joy throughout the community.
