The Calexico Police Department is actively investigating an attempted kidnapping incident that occurred on the evening of Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Cordova Park in northeast Calexico.

According to police, officers responded to the park at approximately 7:31 p.m. following a report of a possible kidnapping attempt involving two young children. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victims, a 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Hispanic female suspect, described as wearing a pink shirt and having long brown hair, approached the children and attempted to lure them with candy. The suspect allegedly grabbed the arm of the 7-year-old girl and tried to take her. The girl managed to break free and escape.

The suspect then reportedly grabbed the 4-year-old boy and began walking him toward a nearby vehicle. At that moment, the children’s mother intervened, prompting the suspect to flee the area.

Witnesses told police an unidentified male accompanied the female suspect. The suspects may have fled in a gray Honda crossover SUV with unknown license plates, though they were not seen entering the vehicle.

Officers conducted an area check and canvassed nearby homes for surveillance footage. Several residents provided video evidence, which investigators are currently reviewing.

The Calexico Police Department has released images related to the case and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact the department at (760) 768-2140 or email Police@calexico.ca.gov.

The investigation remains ongoing.
