A 13-year-old Imperial resident was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder following a stabbing incident involving two victims near Imperial High School, according to the Imperial Police Department.
Police responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28 to reports of two separate stabbing victims in connection with an incident near Imperial High School, located at 517 W. Barioni Blvd.
According to the police department, the first victim, a juvenile, was stabbed near the front of the high school. An acquaintance subsequently transported the victim to El Centro Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.
A second victim, an adult, reportedly confronted the suspect during the incident and was also stabbed, police said. The department did not provide additional information about the victims’ conditions.
Following the incident, Imperial police officers and investigators conducted an investigation and interviewed witnesses. Investigators subsequently identified the suspect as a 13-year-old resident of Imperial, according to the department.
Police contacted the juvenile at the suspect’s home and made an arrest. The juvenile was booked into Imperial County Juvenile Hall on two counts of attempted murder.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities have not released the person’s name or other identifying information.
The Imperial Police Department said the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the department.
