The Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce (IVRCC) has officially announced its 2025–2026 Board of Directors, naming Victor Nava as the incoming President. With a renewed focus on unity, economic growth, and community representation, Nava will lead the Chamber through the next two years alongside five newly appointed board members from across the region.
Victor Nava, a seasoned community leader and business development expert, succeeds outgoing President Sher Cowie. Nava brings over 20 years of experience in financial services and regional development, having previously led the Brawley, Holtville, and Westmorland Chambers. Currently Senior Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Sun Community Federal Credit Union, Nava emphasized the need for increased collaboration to unlock funding and economic opportunities for the region.
“There have been moments where we’ve had the right projects, the right goals, but we couldn’t show that we were working together as one region,” Nava said. “That’s been a major setback—and it’s something we can and must fix.”
Nava’s priorities for his term include expanding membership, supporting small and unincorporated communities, improving access to resources, and aligning with all levels of government to advance infrastructure and border-related development. He also praised existing partnerships with institutions like ICOE, IVC, and SDSU Imperial Valley as models of regional progress.
Outgoing President Sher Cowie reflected on her term with pride, noting the Chamber’s increased legislative advocacy and community engagement. Highlights included joint events with the Brawley Chamber, the launch of legislative forums, and support for initiatives addressing commercial theft. Cowie’s final event as President will be the Celebrate America Drone Show on July 5, 2025. She expressed gratitude to the Chamber staff, Ambassadors, and board members, stating, “The knowledge, friendships, and lessons I’ve gained are irreplaceable.”
To further strengthen the Chamber’s regional representation, five new board members have been appointed, each bringing valuable expertise and deep community ties. Jennifer Rodriguez-Godoy of Imperial, owner of Desert Professional Services, is a recognized leader in youth advocacy and small business development. Dr. Jeffrey Chan of El Centro, President of Honor Health Sciences and a city Planning Commissioner, contributes extensive experience in healthcare and economic innovation. Edgar Jaimes of Imperial, founder of Centinela Media Group, adds strategic media and marketing insight. Ben Horton of Calexico, proprietor of Horton Professional, brings a background in public service, fiscal oversight, and support for aging populations. Rounding out the new members is Joe Jimenez Jr. of Westmorland, owner of J & J Tire Company, a veteran small business owner, and a dedicated youth sports coach.
“We are excited to welcome these five leaders to our board,” Nava said. “Their diverse expertise and strong community ties will help us drive inclusive growth and improve quality of life throughout the Imperial Valley.”
