The Imperial County Office of Education has named Diana Renteria, a data entry specialist with the Brawley Union High School District, as the 2026 Imperial County Classified School Employee of the Year, recognizing her contributions to student services and district operations.
The annual Classified School Employees of the Year (CSEY) Award Program highlights the work of classified staff who support more than 35,000 public school students across Imperial County, from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade. Classified employees include staff in clerical, technical, maintenance, transportation, and other support roles essential to school operations.
Following her selection at the county level, Renteria has been nominated by the Imperial County Office of Education for consideration in the statewide CSEY program administered by the California Department of Education.
Renteria was recognized in the Clerical and Administrative Services category. In her role with the Brawley Union High School District, she manages several key student information and communication systems, including CALPADS, Aeries, and ParentSquare. These platforms are used to maintain student data, support reporting requirements, and facilitate communication between schools and families.
Her responsibilities also include assisting families with the online registration process, particularly students entering high school from feeder districts. District officials said her work helps ensure a smooth transition for incoming students and their families.
In addition to her data and administrative duties, Renteria supports districtwide communication efforts by coordinating messages and assisting with outreach to families. On campus, she participates in student activities, including Associated Student Body events, pep rallies, and other programs intended to promote student engagement and school culture.
The Imperial County Office of Education said the recognition reflects the broader role classified employees play in supporting school communities and maintaining day-to-day operations.
Imperial County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Todd Finnell said classified staff is integral to creating effective learning environments.
“Classified school employees are essential to the daily functioning of our schools and help create environments where students and families feel supported,” Finnell said in a statement. “We are proud to recognize Ms. Renteria’s work and contributions to her school community.”
The statewide Classified School Employee of the Year honorees are expected to be announced later this year by the California Department of Education.
