Central Union High School junior Noah Munguia has become the youngest graduate of Imperial Valley College’s Dual Enrollment program, earning four associate degrees before completing high school, according to school officials.
Munguia, an 11th-grade student, participated in Imperial Valley College’s commencement ceremony this semester, where he received an associate degree in psychology, behavioral science, social science, and university studies: social and behavioral science. He remains enrolled at IVC and is on track to earn a fifth associate degree in May 2026.
“It’s important not to give up, keep working no matter how hard it is, and have people there to support you,” Munguia said. He said balancing academics and athletics has allowed him to accomplish several personal goals.
In addition to his academic achievements, Munguia is a student-athlete at Central Union High School. He has won Imperial Valley League championships in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter track events and the 4×400-meter relay, earned the IVL Cross Country Championship, and holds the school record in the 5K.
“Noah represents the very best of Central Union High School,” Principal Craig Lyon said, citing his academic performance, work ethic, and athletic accomplishments.
After completing his fifth associate degree, Munguia plans to continue his education through California State University San Marcos, taking online courses while pursuing both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
His mother, Cynthia Munguia, said the achievement reflects a long-term goal he set in middle school. “We are proud of him and all his hard work coming together,” she said.
School officials said Munguia’s accomplishments highlight opportunities available through Imperial Valley College’s dual and concurrent enrollment programs, which allow high school students to earn college credit while completing their secondary education.
The Imperial Valley College’s Dual Enrollment program provides high school students across Imperial County with a valuable pathway to earn college credit early, explore career options, and prepare for the academic demands of higher education. By offering transferable courses, free tuition and textbooks, and flexible in-person or online instruction, the program helps students accelerate their college goals, reduce costs, and build a strong foundation for college and career success before graduating from high school.
